Learning Reflection

As I think about my time and experiences at DTS, the things I remember most are my interactions with other believers, especially women who are advanced. The highlight of my on-campus experience is attending a week-long, in-person course on women's leadership, assisting professional writers write a Bible study, and attending a Passover "Seder" Dinner.

I took many outstanding courses during my tenure; however, two in particular stand out: Trinitarianism and Effective Ministry with Women.  course, I met professional women with advanced ministry experience from around the globe. Their stories of success and failure helped prepare me for real-life possibilities. The fellowship of professors, ministry leaders, and fellow students helped create meaningful relationships and lasting friendships. Hearing their unique life and ministry experiences helps provide direction and insight into similar situations that I might encounter currently or in the future.  I've learned that encouragement and support from fellow believers are essential for all leaders.

Another significant experience was partaking in a Jewish Passover "Seder" Dinner. This event was important to me because it was my first time participating in Jewish culture.  I observed the Seder ceremony, I heard the history, ate a kosher meal, and sang along with the Jewish songs. Since I love experiencing different cultures, I especially found this meaningful because I participated in it, which was a significant event in Scripture.

Lifelong Development

Considering the experiences I shared above, and the plethora of experiences I've had overall at Dallas Theological Seminary, they have developed me in ways I could have never imagined. The knowledge that I've gained and the lessons that I've learned from these experiences have given me a better understanding of our Triune God and how He relates to us. This insight will help me exposit, understand, and teach Scripture more effectively and accurately.

The relationships forged with professors,  presenters, and fellow students have given me a lifetime of wisdom, guidance, and accountability as I move forward in ministry.  The knowledge and instruction I've received through my courses will continue to inform me as I continue in ministry and grow in my relationships with family, friends, and those I serve in ministry. The lessons I learned during my Esther Bible Study internship taught me the intricacies that go into writing a biblically sound Bible study.
